This guide shows you exactly how to install and activate your Planet eSIM on iPhone or Android devices. It’s easy, and takes just a few minutes

iPhone Install Guide
01 Open your Planet eSIM email
On your iPhone, open the confirmation email from Planet. Tap ‘Tap to Install’ and your eSIM settings will open automatically – the installation starts right away.
02 Your eSIM will begin to install
Tap ‘Allow’ to start setup. Your phone will securely download the eSIM profile over Wi-Fi – usually in under a minute. Once it’s added, you’ll see it in your mobile settings, ready to activate as soon as you land.
03 Create a name for your eSIM
You can pick a default label, but we recommend creating your own – for example, the name of your destination. That way your Planet eSIM is easy to spot at a glance.
04 Default voice line
Set your default voice line to Primary. Since your Planet eSIM is data-only, this ensures you can still make and receive calls as usual. If prompted for iMessage and FaceTime, select Primary there as well.
05 Select Mobile Data
Select your new Planet eSIM as your Mobile Data.
⚠️ Important: Make sure ‘Allow Mobile Data Switching’ is turned OFF.
06 Turn on data roaming
Don’t forget to switch ON Data Roaming in your phone settings.
⚠️ Important: Your eSIM won’t show a signal until you arrive in your destination country – this is completely normal.
Scan the QR Code
If you’re setting up with a QR code, open your phone’s camera and scan the QR code in your Planet eSIM email (on another screen or a printout). When prompted to add a mobile plan, tap to begin. Your phone will guide you through setup - once installed, just select Planet eSIM as your data line and switch on Data Roaming.
Android Install Guide

• An iOS install link (for iPhone)

Your travel details – remember, your eSIM only activates once you arrive in your destination country
Troubleshooting

01My eSIM is installed but I don’t see a signal

Don’t worry - this is normal. Your Planet eSIM will only connect once you’ve arrived in your destination country and Data Roaming is switched ON. If you’re already there and still have no signal, try restarting your phone and checking that Planet eSIM is set as your Mobile Data line.

02I only have one phone and can’t scan the QR code

No problem. In your Planet eSIM email, you’ll also find a direct install link. Just open the email on your phone, tap the link, and follow the on-screen steps to install your eSIM without needing a second device.

03My eSIM is installed but data isn’t working

Check the following:
• Planet eSIM is selected as your Mobile Data line
• Data Roaming is switched ON
• Mobile Data Switching is OFF (on iPhone)
• You’re in your destination country with a strong signalIf it’s still not working, restart your phone. On Android, you can also try manually selecting a different network under Network Operators.

04The QR code won’t scan

• On Android, be sure you’re using Settings > Add eSIM > Use QR Code - not just the camera app
• If scanning from another screen, adjust brightness or zoom in for a clearer read

05How do I to check my data usage and expiry

Tap the shareable link in your Planet eSIM email to open your personal usage dashboard. There you’ll see:
• Remaining data balance
• Expiry countdown
• Top-up options (if available with your plan)
